Join our growing numbers

Member associations are organised into Akava Special Branches. We recommend you join while still a student. The easiest way to become a member is to join on-line.

Membership entitles you to the full benefits provided by AKAVA – the Confederation of Unions for Professional and Managerial Staff in Finland, Akava Special Branches, your own member association and unemployment fund. (Self-employed entrepreneurs should join the Unemployment Fund for Entrepreneurs and the Self-Employed, the AYT Fund.)

Diverse Membership

• Graduates from universities of science or art and design: arts/humanities, educational sciences, social and administrative sciences (for example, Master of Arts, Master of Education)
   
• Graduates from universities of applied sciences: the fields of humanities, culture, tourism, restaurant services, business, occupational therapy, working as an assistant to management and with languages within the fields of business and administration
   
• Typical professions: project manager, education planner, translator, occupational
  therapist, librarian, researcher, planner, secretary, assistant, information officer, department head, intern, cultural manager, organisation secretary, staff manager
