Organisation

Akava Special Branches comprises 25 independent member associations whose members belong to the union through their own association.

The union’s highest decision-making body is the Union Meeting, which comprises representatives appointed by the member associations; it meets every April and November.

The Board is responsible for the union’s activities, and it serves as the executive body under the Union Meeting.

The advisory committees for the private, state and municipal sectors are responsible for the union’s negotiations and collective agreements under the Board.

Other bodies that serve under the Board are the committees for the self-employed, social influence and students.

The union office is in Länsi-Pasila, Helsinki. It has 24 members of staff, and the union’s operations are managed by the Executive Director.
