Students
Student members pay union membership fees if they fulfil the length of employment condition. The work need not necessarily be within one’s own field. In other instances, students are exempted from paying membership fees.
Students do not pay membership fees on financial aid to support studies or grants.
Students should keep their wage slips, employment certificates and possible lists of hours worked. The Unemployment Fund for the Specially Trained (ERKO) requests clarification if necessary.
Length of employment condition
The required length of employment accumulates for employment where the number of hours worked is at least 18 hours/week, and 8 hours/week if in a teaching position. The review period for students can be as much as nine years.
You are entitled to a daily allowance if you have been an unemployment fund member for a minimum of 10 months and if you have been employed for at least 43 weeks during your period of membership.
Members who pay their fees themselves usually pay them once a month. If you prefer to pay your membership fees quarterly, you can click below to order membership fee bank payment reference numbers.
