Position:
Body under the Board of Directors (section 10 of the Rules of the Union).

Composition:
The Committee is chaired by one of the members of the Board of Directors of the Union, or another person representing the sector in question, appointed by the Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors of the Union elects 5–10 members and their personal deputy members from among the members of the Union’s member organisations to the committee. In their election, the Board of Directors takes into account the representation of the sector and the appointed persons’ work as independent professionals.

Secretary:
The officer responsible for lobbying for independent professionals and entrepreneurs.

Presenting officer:
An officer designated by the Union’s office in matters concerning their area of responsibility.

Duties:
The committee is responsible for preparing and developing lobbying activities concerning independent professionals, entrepreneurs, freelancers and grant recipients.

The committee is responsible for the content of training for independent professionals and entrepreneurs.

The committee maintains communication with the corresponding bodies and unions of Akava, the Union’s member organisations and other cooperation partners.

The Committee also carries out other duties assigned to it by the Board of Directors of the Union.

The Committee reports on its activities in accordance with the instructions of the Board of Directors.

Decision-making authority:
The Committee of Independent Professionals and Entrepreneurs independently decides on matters that fall within its duties and competence (sections 10 and 20 of the Rules of the Union).
